Weight Loss Contouring

Arm, buttock and thigh lifts are performed to reduce excess skin and fat of individuals in whom diet, exercise, or liposuction alone will not correct the aesthetic imbalance. Candidates for this type of body contouring procedure are usually those who have had extreme weight gains or losses or have developed laxity due to age.

ARM LIFT (BRACHIOPLASTY)

An Arm Lift, or Brachioplasty, uses an incision on the inner part of the upper arm to remove the excess skin. Occasionally the scar can be limited to the armpit region, but this is uncommon, and most of the time the scar extends from the armpit to the elbow. Liposuction is performed as necessary to remove fat from the arm to take tension off the wound closure. General Anesthesia administered by a Board-certified Anesthesiologist is commonly offered. Loose skin is removed and dissolving sutures are used to close the skin.

THIGH LIFT (THIGHPLASTY)

An Inner Thigh Lift or Thighplasty treats lose skin of the inner thigh. A thighplasty can be accomplished through incisions hidden in the groin crease or may require an additional longer scar along the inside of the thigh from groin to knee. Liposuction reduces any diet-resistant fat to improve leg contours. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia administered by a Board-certified Anesthesiologist. The excess skin is removed and then suturing of the lifted skin is performed with dissolving sutures.

BODY LIFT

A Body Lift generally refers to procedures designed to lift the buttocks and outer thighs, as well as remove skin from the abdomen. The skin of the tummy is removed with additional skin removed from the flanks (to lift the thighs) and lower back (to lift the buttock). Often the scar extends from mid-back around the front to the mid-back in a circumferential fashion. The lifting of the loose skin requires suturing the skin to strong tissue over the muscles of the flanks and back. A Body Lift is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient, although occasionally an overnight hospital stay is required.
