Dr. Leppink built his foundation at some of the country’s most respected institutions. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he received the Academic Achievement Award with the Class of 1985. Before that, he completed his undergraduate studies at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, earning a place on the Dean’s List.

He went on to complete both his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at The Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus, along with a research fellowship in the Division of Transplantation. Throughout his training, he earned recognition as Resident of the Year and received multiple teaching awards from his peers and faculty.

Dr. Leppink has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1996, with continued recertification over the years. He is fully licensed in the State of Michigan. This certification reflects the rigorous standards and ongoing commitment expected of leading plastic surgeons.

Academic and Teaching Roles

Dr. Leppink remains committed to education and mentoring the next generation of surgeons. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, a role he has held since 2002, and he is a member of the teaching faculty at the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center. He previously served as Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency clinical practice in the Grand Rapids area.

His dedication to teaching keeps him connected to the latest techniques and standards in the field. He maintains active membership in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Michigan State Medical Society, and the Kent County Medical Society.
