What if you could see yourself with your results before they actually happen? With Crisalix 3D Imaging, that is exactly what we can show you. If you are considering breast implant surgery, one of the most important questions you will need to answer is “how big?” The most personal aspect of your breast implant options, however, is the size and shape of breast implants that you want and the look that you are hoping to achieve. You probably have a general idea of the size that you would like for your breasts to be, but you won’t know exactly what implant size fits your body until you have a chance to “try them on & see them.” That is why your consultation will include a Breast Implant Sizing Session – to help you decide on the breast implant size and profile that looks best on you.
Your Session with Our Patient Care Coordinator
During your breast implant sizing and shaping session with our patient care coordinator, you will have the opportunity to “try on” various sizes of breast implants. You can then see how you would look with each of the implants that you try on to help you determine the size that will give you the look that you want.
You can take all the time you need in front of the mirror, and you are encouraged to bring fitted clothes from home that will help you to visualize your new shape. By trying on breast implants before your surgery, you will have a realistic idea of what you will look like after surgery, ensuring that you will get the results that you hope for.
Once you have determined a look that you are comfortable with, we will show you how those implants will look in your body with our Crisalix 3D Imaging system.
Here’s how it works:
1) During your consultation we will be taking preoperative photos. Those photos will then be loaded into the secure and private Crisalix system.
2) Our patient care coordinator will then show you a range of implant sizes, and how they will look with your breasts. You will be able to select a look that you are most comfortable with.
3) After your appointment, you will receive and email from our office for a link to the Crisalix system where you will be able to review your look once you are home!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved silicone gel breast implants for first-time breast augmentation. Previously, these implants were restricted to breast reconstruction patients and just a few other women for whom saline implants were not a good choice. They’re approved for all women 22 and older. At Centre for Plastic Surgery, we are pleased to offer Mentor Implants. Mentor is a world leader in breast implant manufacturing, research and testing, and is recognized for outstanding product integrity. Mentor offers two types of silicone breast implants- MENTOR® MemoryGel® Breast Implants and MENTOR®MemoryShape® Breast Implants.
Silicone gel implants look and feel more natural. They weigh a little less than saline implants, for each given size. Further, they have less tendency to ripple in any way that can be seen or felt. Silicone implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can be either round or anatomical (teardrop-shaped), and can have either a textured surface or a smooth one.
As with saline implants, silicone gel implants can be placed either submuscular (below the chest muscle), or subglandular (that is, above the muscle and below the glands). They can use the following three incision locations:
The FDA did not approve the fourth incision location, the TUBA incision (through the belly button). Each location has its advantages and disadvantages.
If you have saline implants and would like to switch to silicone gel implants, we offer this option. Please contact us at 616.454.1256 for more information on how to remove and replace your saline implants.
Silicone gel implants made by two California companies were approved in this FDA decision: Allergan, Inc. and Mentor Corporation. These implants are judged to be safe and effective. These two companies will be conducting 10-year studies on safety and the FDA considers these implants to already be very “extensively studied.”

March 23, 2017
This week the FDA released a statement regarding a possible link between a very rare type of cancer (Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma) and breast implants. ALCL is typically associated with the use of certain types of textured implants and has occurred in less than 0.1% of patients that have breast implants. The majority of the breast implants used at the Centre for Plastic Surgery are NOT the type of implants associated with this type of cancer. As always, our first priority is your care and safety. Any patient with questions or concerns should contact us immediately. These FDA findings only reinforce the need for continued care and follow up with your physician. Typical warning signs of ALCL include a new onset of pain and severe swelling without injury 12 or more months after your breast implant surgery. The FDA does not recommend the removal breast implants in patients without symptoms or abnormalities.
