What to Expect with a Mommy Makeover
During your initial visit to our office, we’ll discuss all of your Mommy Makeover options and determine which combination of surgeries will best suit your desires. We will also establish if your Mommy Makeover can be completed in one or multiple surgeries. It’s likely we will take photos during your initial visit. This can feel a bit awkward but we will do everything possible to make you feel comfortable and cared for. Just remember that this is an important element of your medical record.
On the day of surgery you will be treated in our on-site accredited surgical facility. Most Mommy Makeover procedures will require general anesthesia, so it’s important that you have a dedicated caretaker accompany you.
Depending on the procedure(s) that are performed, you will need your caretaker to stay with you after the surgery as well. You’ll feel very sleepy, and sore in the days following. If a tummy tuck is a part of your plan, you will need help getting up and down for at least the first five days. Most patients need at least one to two weeks of recovery time when breast and body procedures are combined. Our surgeons and support staff will walk you through all the details of your procedure(s) and recovery prior to your surgery day(s).
Mommy Makeover Recovery
Most surgeries will require a garment that will need to be worn for the first six weeks. This is to help you heal properly. Most patients describe mild to moderate discomfort following Mommy Makeover procedures. Our surgeons will prescribe medication to help with your comfort. It’s likely you will have some lifting restrictions for a few weeks, so this should be a consideration if your children are still small. Swelling is common with most mommy makeover surgeries for quite some time, but it’s important to understand when swelling becomes concerning. Make sure to ask questions about timing, physical restrictions, and expected results as they pertain to your specific surgical plan.
